I have friends with children there but no personal experience. It has the reputation of being the most academically selective of the Independent schools in the area and thus is good for academically minded children but not so good with SEN.
The entrance exam (at 11) was I believe Maths, English and a mixed reasoning paper (NVR and VR) but this may not be current. Academic scholarship level seems to be similar to gaining a place at a Colchester Grammar school (I know several children that have achieved both) so presumably a full fees place would be easier.

I would think that materials for the 11 plus in Essex would be suitable, but you may need NVR as well and possibly some essay planning (not covered by essex 11 plus at the moment!) I think they deliberately try to keep the exam structure quiet.

Sorry this is all a bit vague - hopefully someone else will come along with more up to date knowledge! If I can find out more I will come back to you.
