10+ Whitgift Exams

Post by Babiloo »

Hi,

I am looking for some advice from experience parents or parents who has boys taking 10+ exams this year at Whitgift.

DS has been doing some work steadily for the last few month (not too long :( ).

Any suggestions on which books to use for practicing papers for Maths and English. He has been using my DD's verbal reasoning papers for his Verbal.

Also, can someone give me advice on what needs to be provided for sports scholarships?

Any help and advice will be appreciated.

Thanks
estelle

Hi there

MY DS in is Year 11 at Whitgift but he entered at 11+. We used the Bond books for Maths, English, Verbal & NRV plus as many past papers from different indies as we could lay our hands on. More difficult for 10+ I know but Whitgift have theirs up on the website.

You need to be playing sport at quite a high level to get a scholarship, as well as exhibiting a good all round level of fitness.
There is a day of sports testing & you need to be able to demonstrate good achievement as well as a 'team player' attitude. There is a whole section on what's required on the Whitgift website under admissions.

It's a wonderful school. My DS is very happy & making great progress.

Best of luck!
