Hi mischa20. My DS sat the UCS exam this year. He's not hugely forthcoming with detail but I do know that the comprehension was quite tough - a poem with plenty of inference required and some children misunderstood what was actually going on in the poem. It's called The Circus Lion, I'm afraid I can't recall the author. The local opinion in this corner of N London is that the school is keen on great English skills which figures.
I don't have any inside tips on City but I know that they are keen on kids strong in all papers, a stellar mark in English but a weak maths paper will not get you an interview. They send you your rank after the exam.
