Re: Whitgift exams for 2016 entry
Also thanks very much from me LadyLuck... Any other bits of info greatly appreciated. Willing this week to finish already lol.... Just so we can know one way or the other.
Only sat trinity as son is musical and totally loved the school. Don't know any other school like it, but am pretty green when it comes to all this 'private schools' thing...

Does he play an instrument, and if so to what grade?
Did you look at Whitgift? Whilst Trinity is of course famous for its Boys Choir, Whitgift also scores highly for music. On the whole it has been currently slightly easier to get into Whitgift for the past few years as they have greater numbers. That may change with the change in heads of course. If you wanted an additional shot, then you have nothing to lose by phoning Whitgift to see if they would accept a late submission.
Until very recently Trinity were asking boys to bring in something to talk about, so don't be surprised if this is requested. We found that taking in a photo of something eg receiving an award was easier to manage rather than walking in a 2 foot high trophy (we did see boys struggling with the latter and being unable to get through doors!).
If sitting a music scholarship assessment then the sightreading is notoriously difficult.
The waiting is hard. But if you don't get a "no" letter, then they will contact you eventually!

Re: Whitgift exams for 2016 entry
On the 'take something in to talk about' theme, is it usual to bring in trophies etc? We had tentatively wondered about taking in a (small) sports trophy but is it considered too showy?
Re: Whitgift exams for 2016 entry
Trophies/medals seem to be the norm. We were at one of the afternoon sessions and of the 3 boys being interviewed, one had a photo of him playing rugby, ds had a photo of him in a show and one brought in a trophy. Just remember that the boy will be collected from you by the interviewer and taken to some far flung room to be interviewed whilst carrying said item.

Hi LadyLuck..yes he plays two instruments grade 2 and grade 4 on principle. The late submission is interesting. But wouldn't I need to provide a very good reason for non submission in the first place? This is also for 10+, not sure if I mentioned this previously.Ladymuck wrote:Does he play an instrument, and if so to what grade?
