HELP! offers from John Lyon and Aldenham but can’t decide!!!

HELP! offers from John Lyon and Aldenham but can’t decide!!!
My DS has had offers from both John Lyon and Aldenham. We will be relocating from overseas and don’t know very much about both schools but both were recommended.
My DS is very average academically but has a lovely personality and is polite, well-spoken and confident. I have been reading on this forum that Aldenham is not as academic as John Lyon? We have seen both schools and DS liked Aldenham but would I be denying him the opportunity of a more academic education by not choosing JLS? Both schools are equal distance from us in the UK.
My head is saying JLS but my heart is saying Aldenham! Some reviews of parents at both schools would be really helpful!!!
