Hampton school vs Dulwich college

Post by hniu »

Hi! Have to choose between Hampton and Dulwich and would be very grateful for any insiders view of the 2 schools.

We found nothing but praise about both schools, which makes our choice extremely difficult.

Hampton is more local to us and seems stronger academically. However, from the open day we had an impression that Dulwich is more diverse and flamboyant, while Hampton school being a lot more formal, trying to do everything "by the book". Not sure if that is correct, as open days and reports could be misleading. Therefore we would be very grateful for any insider views!

Hi hniu congratulations to your DS.

I think you have got a good feel for both schools, I would describe Hampton as perhaps being a little more formal/conservative rather than 'by the book' but I think the gut feel you have about both is pretty accurate. The are both good schools and if one is particularly nearer/easier to get to that should be a factor, plus, does one of the schools tend to draw boys from your area more than the other? It might seem far fetched now but in a few years DS will be taking using public transport to visit friends etc and if they all live for example in south/west London but you live further out or South East/Central it might not be ideal.

Good luck either way.
