I wasn’t sure whether to post this here or on the Trafford forum.
Has anyone’s daughter taken these tests earlier this month and has heard back from either? Just wondered what the time scale is for hearing. Also wondered if anyone knew how many girls are interviewed at each in relation to number of places.

We have received a letter from Man High today with an interview date at the beginning of February. I think Withington is seeming unlikely but we haven’t had a rejection letter either at this stage. I do know of a few people still waiting to hear but also know if 2 girls with interviews next week. One of my daughter’s classmates has Withington next Wed and Man High on Mon. Does anyone know if that means she’s done much better than my daughter in the exams or doesn’t timing matter re interviews?

Thank you, Kanye. I shall just wait and see in that respect. Do you or anyone else know what the ratio is of girls interviewed to places offered? I guess it varies amongst schools but just trying to work out if it’s double or less than that.

I'm going back some 6 years but then at WGG interviews were arranged in alphabetical order of surnames and slots were not allocated simultaneously.

Approximately 2/3 got interviews from which ~ 2/3 got offers.

We do now have a Withington interview in 2wks time so I’ll take comfort in the fact that it may well be alphabetical which would make sense as we are a ‘T’ surname.

So 2/3 of those tested are interviewed? Then 2/3 of those interviewed get offers? That’s higher than I thought as I’m guessing there’s about 40-50 external places up for grabs.

We have tried to play down our daughter’s chances at WGS as there’s so few places available. I think there’s definitely more places up for grabs at MH simply because they’re bigger.

Do they still do parent(informal) interviews with the High Mistress ?

BTW, congrats on the interview she has already done well, they over offer because many choose MHSG or AGGS( as we did) .

My daughter hasn’t had her interviews yet but yes, I think we have a short interview with the HT at both WGS and MHSG. I’m not sure if this forms part of the selection process or not; I hope not for DD’s sake
AGGS looks fantastic but we are nowhere near catchment.

All they want to know is that you are responsible parents and educationally ambitious for your girl .

Ask sensible questions -it's not a deal breaker they are more interested in your child than you.

Do you know whether it’s best for my daughter to wear her school uniform or not? The letter doesn’t specify although the test letter was very clear to state they shouldn’t wear uniform to the test. Her MH interview is at 9.30 but her WGS one is in the afternoon. I know my daughter would rather wear her own clothes but I’m wondering if they’ll think time to change could have been better spent at school. It seems such a silly thing to worry about but I don’t want to put her at a disadvantage either way. Two more weeks then nothing more to be done until offer day.
