Has anyone experienced this or knows of anyone who has?
I was having a discussion with a colleague recently who's DD attends Edgbaston High school for girls and is currently in 6th form. She said that quite a few girls move from KEHS to EHS mainly because KEHS was too academic which didn't suit some of the girls.
Initially I thought she was referring to girls joining EHS from KEHS for 6th form. I know moving school for 6th form isn't unusual but it turns out she was referring to in year transfers. I just wondered if there are parents with experience of this.

Sounds like an urban myth to me! How different can they really be? They will be covering roughly the same syllabus, teaching the same GCSEs and EHS is still pretty selective.
My daughter is in year 9 and no one has left as far as I know. 2 have come from EHS - I guess KEHS is seen as a bit more prestigious? But really I don’t think KEHS is particularly pushy or ‘academic’. They seem more relaxed than the grammar schools to me!
