Pls share experience: Habs Boys 11+: why or why not

Post by Needtodecide »

DS has received offers from HABS, Latymer Upper and waitlisted on City of London and Hampton School. We are willing to relocate per the right school. Having almost made up our mind, very happily on HABS due to great academic results, open grounds available, charmed by coaches etc - heard a few strong views from well wishers on lack of ethnic diversity. Apparently 2 groups dominate the school. We are from one of the two groups, however believe that a mix which is more diverse can be critical for overall development and exposure.1) From the parents whose DS go to this great school - HABS- can you please share the reality in the school. (Does it become more diverse after 11+ as there is a serious intake and it’s afterall a very strong school academically- so should attract applications from all groups?) Does travel to the school from London on coaches waste a lot of time? Is there a LOT of homework? 2) From the parents who have chosen not to send their children to HABS and chosen schools like LU / CLSB - more city - does the commuting by tube in peak hours, not having huge open spaces - come across as a regret?
