Hello,

I really hope for some advise on choosing between Brentwood school (independent) and Mayfield Grammar. What are the main points to consider? Do you have any experience with any of them?
Thank you.

Hello and welcome

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with either of these schools, although someone might be along soon who is, at least with one or other of them. They are very far apart, so unlikely that anyone will have been considering them both, what are your thoughts on them so far?

Presumably boarding at Brentwood, if your local grammar is Mayfield?

I don't know anyone with DC currently at Brentwood, but have known a couple of people whose DC have gone through from the prep and others whose DC have joined in year 7 and year 12 respectively, who seem to have been happy with their DC's experience there.

Thank you for replies.
Yes, I understand these two are not traditional options for choice. But due to some changes in our life, we are between them now.
So far I have compared last year's GCSE results. Brentwood's seem to be higher.

Which did you think your child would be best suited to? A few differences in GCSE reults are probably irrelevant - particularly as your child won't be sitting them for another 6 years, by which time teachers will have come & gone, curricula may have changed again etc etc.
