Please help
Hello,
I would appreciate some advice regarding which high schools to look at for my DS.
Do we have any school which charge less tuition fees compare to normally 20K per annum - I am aware of one school North London Grammar School
Please note that we are based on North West London.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Please help
There are schools that charge less, they aren't always better than the state option. It will depend on what you are looking for, sports facilities, smaller classes, specialist subjects etc. Don't be swayed by shiny or impressive buildings but do consider the whole package and if a state option plus paying for extra curricular might be more suitable. I don't know your region of London so can't advise but investing a small amount in something like the Good Schools Guide or using the copy in your local library might be a start.

Re: Please help
Merchant Taylors and HABS both excellent schools that probably have coaches from your area. DG
Re: Please help
Both MT and (more so) HABS currently charge more than £20 000 pa, though? Allowing for extras and 5% or more annual increase, if £20 000 would be difficult for the OP to find out of taxed income, they would run the risk of needing look for an in-year place back in the state system somewhere along the line.

Re: Please help
Agreed.
As already stated many of the cheaper private schools do not have the results to justify paying for them. DG

Re: Please help
For some, sending children to private school isn't about value for money. (not this case)
Call it what you want but there are families who would just not consider the state sector at all. Their children aren't academic enough for the top private schools and so send them to those that are cheaper. That's keeping those institutions in business.
