KS1 Spelling

Am I correct about the following:

- KS1 English is now teacher assessed, and part of this could involve using old test papers
- NC levels are given for reading and writing
- spelling is included somehow in the writing level?

Did there used to be a spelling test as part of the kS1 SATS?

Is there a particular list of high frequency words that are assessed as part of the KS1 spelling element of the writing?

Thanks

KS1 is teacher assessed - I can't remember when it changed, it's not new this year.
Old papers can be used to back up teacher assessment.

Pupils are given a level in maths, reading, writing, speaking and listening and science as before.

There was a spelling test in KS1 SATs, but I don't think they came from a list - probably from the rules that are taught during KS1.

This is the list we worked from
http://www.highfrequencywords.org/hfw100fp.pdf There's also a follow up list of the next 100 but we never got around to that one

Oh thank you everyone. Those lists are useful. I'm still a little puzzled by how spelling is taking into account in the KS1 teacher assessment.

When spelling is teacher assessed through writing, a teacher will look at different types of words - are common cvc (eg cat) spelt correctly, are incorrect spellings phonetically sensible attempts, are common longer words spelt correctly (eg because).
