Extra time in SATs (injury)

Posting on the behalf of a friend:

Their child is currently in year 6 and hurt one of their fingers playing lacrosse over the weekend,which would obviously make them less able to write properly.They were wondering if it would be possible to gain extra time in these SATs papers, if she took her child to the doctor and got a letter from him?

The other option is not to take them!

Not sure about the extra time, someone else will know the answer. If you get a letter from the doctor remember that they are likely to charge for it.

Child in DS1's class had an injury and did the tests alone with a scribe.

The allowed time for SATs is very generous and hardly any children run out of time. Most children sit huffing and puffing for about half the time because they've finished and checked, although they don't finish so early during the writing task.

The school will be able to make arrangements for injuries - they just have to fill in a form. The most difficult part will be finding an available adult (CRB checked etc) and individual room, if a scribe is needed.

The tests are still a few weeks off, so unless the injury is very serious they may be OK.
