Yr3 Child - Meeting with teacher

My DS is in the top set at school and he likes school, finds it easy. We feel that he has the potential to learn more/widen his knowledge. He has shown he is capable of doing VR and NON VR 11+ papers, can attempt 70% of the maths papers but I have not tried the english yet.

We are about to have a meeting with his teacher to discuss how the school plans on progressing him as it is felt he could cope with more. Can anyone help with questions I should be asking as I feel that without my input the school will be happy for him to plod along.

Thank you

The school has to have (I think  ) a gifted & talented policy which addresses how they make provision for the more able pupils. You could ask to see that, although they may not let you, but they should be able to tell you what is in it. I would ask to see a written plan of how they propose to stretch & challenge your DC, and to prevent him from becoming bored.

If they have the policy, then they have to let you see it. What is the point of having policies if parents can't see them?
