Heart rending moment with DD last night.
"Will the Comprehension be harder than the 11 plus one?" [note for those fortunate enough not to live in Essex - there is an entire thread devoted to the manifold evils of this paper - trust me - it was grim]
I laughed - "No - definitely not - it will be about as difficult as the practice papers you've already done."
Long Paddington Bear stare from DD.
"You said that last time."

:( :(

lol!

We are pretty ambivalent about the SATS as the whole 11+ thing is thankfully over, but we still want her to do well of course. Unfortunately we have had several late nights in a row and then had a massive row over a lost school jumper this morning so it wasn't the best start to the day!

it's all be over by Thursday afternoon.... unless of course your school was 'lucky' enough to be chosen to do a science paper!

DD feels Thursday afternoon is 'ages away'. :( She was sick of SATS, thanks to all the practice papers she's had to do, before she even got to the real thing this morning. Hopefully the boredom will not affect her concentration.

we have just come back from a 3 week break visiting family. Zero preparation for SATS, too late to get worried now. We are relying on the 11+ preparation for DS to get through the SATS...

Anyone here doing the Science? I didn't even know it existed until yesterday.
Glad DD's school isn't doing it - they never taught them any Science.
Last year's school report was 5b Maths, 5b English, 3b Science! Ridiculous.

Did you query it? It could just be a typo.

Yes - I queried it. [one more 'pushy parent' black mark for Mrs Push-pull]
I was told not to worry - because there was no Science SAT any more (because of course that's the only reason why I might want my child to learn anything  ) and that the levels were set in May (at SAT time) and then all the children did lots more Science ( :?: ) so the levels didn't really mean anything.( :?: :?: )

I find that very worrying

Just seem like a normal day here and DD was VERY excited going into school this morning because they are providing them with breakfast on the SATS days. What a nice way to bribe the little ones to get in early. She was just thinking about that breakfast and nothing else.

DD's school has a laid back approach and they havent had any homework for yonks because they dont want to overload kids with SATS. The 11+ was the climax for that and ever since we are just chilling now waiting for september and we havent done anything else apart from loads of netball tournaments.

I am beginning to feel a little sad now that another chapter/ era of my DD's life is coming to any end. I wont miss the school but its what we have known for the last 7 years and we will be heading into the unknown territory. I remember very well as if it were yesterday her first day at school when she was my little baby and now SATS seem to be the official end of that journey. Just how time flies.
