My son received 5b in his Year 5 mock Sats . Apparently could not get any higher. Can anybody explain me why and is it indeed the highest mark possible at his age?

Is this for English, Maths or Science?

SATS for junior schools - highest level you can get is 5c,5b,5a (5a being the highest.
The children are not tested on Level 6 even if they are able to get a Level 6 score.

5b is very very good for a yr 5 child.

It was maths test. Still have not received results for English.
His teacher told children in class that nobody can get 5a. Maybe because it is Year 5?

It is apparently the highest level for year 5 maths QCA tests. Here is the link to the threshold tables for the years 3, 4 and 5 tests:

Indeed. The marks for maths do not go past 5b. Thank you. Unfortunately i am not expecting that good resuls in English. Boy's reluctance to read anything but tablesfrom Top Gear magazine! Forget about classics-BORING! YUCK!

Hi Guest 55 :D

DD2 feels alot better now as I told her what you said about 3 4a's! :o

She is a bright girl and extremley talented at visual and performing arts, so I think this is probably what she will shine in. 8)

We're glad we made the decision to send her to the comp 6 miles away. :P

We went for a parents/pupils evening last week she got to find out her form and form teacher, we got all the info!

She's off for her induction day on Thurs!

Footymad xx.
