Absolutely....JamesDean wrote:Am truly hoping someone at the Dfe 'accidentally' posts all the KS2 tests online over the next 3 weeks, so they all get scrapped! Well, I can dream ... DD remains unbothered by it all fortunately ...

As a school governor, have just sent this to our head as the suggested statement for after results are published....
"As you are aware, x% of our children were deemed to be "at" the standard that this government has set for children in year 6. It is not clear why this standard was chosen and it was chosen without any meaningful input from teachers or those involved in educating children. Nonetheless we (the head and the leadership team and the governors of L School) are very proud of the x% of our children who were at this standard and of their teachers. We are equally proud of the (100-x)% of children who did not meet this spurious standard but who have made excellent progress and worked hard to achieve what they have achieved. We are also proud of the fact that all of our children have developed over their last 7 years of the school into kind, well-rounded individuals who have learnt skills which will be invaluable as they grow up: teamwork, inclusivity, public speaking, musicianship, responsibility for other children, leadership skills etc. We see the role of primary school to teach children well and to help all children reach their potential and we are proud of achievements to this end".

Re: KS1 spelling test published online!
We had a KS2 SATs meeting for parents and it was explained that the "at the standard" mark would be determined post-SATs. Apparently, the raw scores from SATs across the country will be normalised and the 100% score, or more likely a narrow band around the 100%, will become the "at" standard. This sounds very similar to the way grading boundaries for GCSEs are worked out, depending on how well each year's cohort has performed in the exams.loobylou wrote:Absolutely....JamesDean wrote:Am truly hoping someone at the Dfe 'accidentally' posts all the KS2 tests online over the next 3 weeks, so they all get scrapped! If that were to be the case, the much harder SATs contents this year is not likely to result in a large proportion of children achieving "below" standard, as the standard will depend on how well they all do overall and if they all largely don't gain very high raw marks, the "at standard" mark will correspond to a lower raw mark. The teachers said it was the government's way of making sure the DoE doesn't end up with embarrassing results on their hands...
Has anyone heard a different explanation?
It felt like I hit rock bottom; suddenly, there was knocking from beneath... (anon.)

If you're not already following Michael Rosen on Facebook then you should be - here he shows a letter from Nicky Morgan and demonstrates that she doesn't follow her own handwriting guidance. She also appears unable to spell 'sincerely' (maybe because she doesn't know what it means).
If you click on the image you should be able to see it properly.

Perhaps the word 'sincere' is new to her?
Love it!

Re: KS1 spelling test published online!
Why they have to cancel the KS1spelling test this year, why can't they get a new one ready?, it's only April.
They must have a lot of sample tests in reserve.

Maybe because it would be an even more obscene waste of public money?tgsmum16 wrote:Why they have to cancel the KS1spelling test this year, why can't they get a new one ready?, it's only April.
