I could feel the insecurity that all those comments have caused you and your daughter. Do help her if you think she needs it and if you both enjoy working together. But do it if you think it's a good thing for her, not because the school needs her good scores.
We don't know all the subtle ways of "encouraging"/pressure? a teacher may put on children when SATs are in the horizon. When my eldest was in year 5, some of the teachers were so anti 11+ that they wouldn't even talk to parents about giving advice, let alone help. It all changed around February, when they would even suggest doing some work at home. I just simply said that after the 11+, my son had just stopped all work. The school implemented sets, and I must admit that, for the first time, he wasn't bored in class!
Enjoy this time, they do get a lot of work at secondary!
