Greenwich judgement
Hi,
We are doing an appeal for my DD based on oversubscription (we are OOC and did not achieve OOC mark). My DS is already at the school and was accepted under an oversubscription category that had to be removed as it fell foul of the Greenwich judgment. I only found this out after querying with the school why the category had been removed the following year.
My DD is now desperate to follow in their sibling’s footsteps. Does anyone have any advice on the situation? I have wrote to the school (an academy) and am awaiting a response. I have heard people discussing the school’s ombudsman/adjudicator. How are these two organisations different and is it worth contacting both/either?

Re: Greenwich judgement
I think the adjudicator deals with situations where the admissions policy is not legal -https://www.gov.uk/government/organisat ... djudicator
The ombudsman deals with cases where the admissions panel / appeal panel may have acted incorrectly eg not in line with the policy etc https://www.lgo.org.uk/make-a-complaint ... admissions" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Greenwich judgement
Would the adjudicator be able to do anything about a historic policy that was not legal?
Re: Greenwich judgement
For an oversubscription appeal it would be best to focus on your specific reasons for wanting or needing a place at the school in question:Does anyone have any advice on the situation?

Re: Greenwich judgement
you mean retrospectively taking places away from children because of an illegal policy? - no they wouldn't do thatspringbloom wrote:Would the adjudicator be able to do anything about a historic policy that was not legal?

Re: Greenwich judgement
Is it best to state the reasons why your child will not be prejudice to the school in your appeal letter or during the case?
