Help pls,
My son just got his result and missed the pass mark by 1.
Passmark: 219
DS mark: 218
VR: 109
Maths: 109
HT not interested in appeal as she does not promote 11plus.
Current teacher only willing to provide grades.
What should I ask the teacher to provide?
How do I proceed with this appeal
My son was at level 5c in maths and 5b in reading in his year 5 report.
Help please!!!1
Thanks

Hi Toy,

Sorry to hear that it's a fail by 1 mark, that must be torture.

Try to find out what levels your child is working at in Literacy, Maths and Science. If the teacher can confirm 3 x 5bs at this stage then you might have something. Yes, I know that's a tall order but the point is that not many kids are working at those levels now.

Were there any other circumstances around the time of the tests? There doesn't have to be but it might help.

Dear Toy

So very close!

It's a good idea to do a lot of reading first. See the Announcement and the Q&As (follow link in top line of this page).

The appeals panel will probably be used to certain heads who won't co-operate, and will sympathise with you. It does put the onus on you, however, to provide as much evidence as possible.

For the sort of evidence you might need, see:
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/11plus ... rs.php#b11

If the appeals are after 1st March, you'll probably be appealing against oversubscription too. See:
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/11plus ... ers.php#c2
for possible arguments, and also:

Just remember appeals are rarely won in Bexley but it can and does happen.

Does anyone know if it is possible to view the test papers at this stage and underwhat circumstances would that be done in Bexley?
Thanks

I'd be interested in this too.

My dd was constantly making a diagonal pencil line in the box, not intentionally just a fast worker, and I was always telling her to be careful.

I'm wondering if these boxes have been marked as incorrect.

This morning she also told me about the blunt pencils she was using.
Maybe not grammar material after all?

Is is possible to get a manual remark?

Not clutching at straws, honest!

Exam scripts are exempt from the Data Protection Act, so there is no legal right to see them, although admission authorities could make them available at their discretion.

It might be worth asking your authority whether they will allow this. Some do. You could also inquire whether a manual re-mark is possible. (If so, a fee might be charged.)

I enquire from Bexley by email if I could get DS score and how to proceed in the event of lack of co-operation from HT. The response states my email has been forwarded to Grants and Admission and they would get bact to me within 10 days. Ten days is a long time, I think.....
