predicted vrt score

We have seen the head today and she ranked our son 6 out of 40 and he was predicted to score 131. Does this mean we have to explain why there is such a big gap between that and what he actually got (118 and 116). Complicated isn't it?

It does raise some questions, but I don't think it's necessarily for you to answer them.
If the head's other predictions were not so wide of the mark, the panel might take the view that something odd happened in your son's case (depending on the strength of your evidence).
If the head's predictions were generally way out, the panel might take the view that she is unrealistic and over-optimistic.
