is there a minimum score you need to appeal

Does anyone know if there is a minimum score you need to appeal. My son has the ability but got nervous and flopped at the exam.

No, but the further away from the qualifying mark, the harder it usually is to appeal successfully.

You don't say what area you're in. If it's Bucks you might be interested in some figures here showing percentage success rates per score:

the head teacher suggest we go for the 12+ do you have any advice on this.

Hi teddy t

There is a Sticky that describes the full 12+ process at the top of the Bucks section.

Without knowing your son's scores we cannot advise on whether the Head's suggestion is reasonable or not.
