Re: TWGGS appeal
Just being nosey here, is that 66 appeals for TWGGS or 66 girls appealing for a place at any one of the three grammar schools?

The Chair told us that the panel were hearing 66 appeals for the Weald of Kent.

Re: TWGGS appeal
Hi Westerham Blue
I really wish you and your daughter the very best of luck. I too come under Westerham, although out of area and it really is a no man’s land as far as schools are concerned. It proves once again what an awful system we have when a girl with a score over 400 who lives in area, is still struggling to get a grammar school place. My fingers will be firmly crossed for you. X
Mystery.... A couple of weeks ago, my friend who lives in the centre of Edenbridge was offered a place from the WOK waiting list.

Re: TWGGS appeal
Thank you Westerham Mum for that info re. Weald of Kent from Edenbridge. Do you know if they had put Weald of Kent on their CAF initially?
Very useful info. Thanks.

Re: TWGGS appeal
Mystery, I assume 'as the crow flys' Edenbridge is probably closer than parts of Westerham.
But I do believe that they place a priority on the Tonbridge area and then Sevenoaks areas as they are not served by other grammar schools.
Hope that helps.

Re: TWGGS appeal
Would you believe it!! We have just been offered a place in WOK off the waiting list!!!!
What a roller coaster of a couple of months!
Many thanks for all of your support and good luck to all still waiting news.
For information the oversubscription appeal went as follows :
- We were called in by the clerk an hour late. We sat with another couple and the governors rep, whilst the panel had lunch!
- A very friendly panel (all smiles) stood up and greeted us on entry.
- The chair explained the process.
- The governors rep put forward the case for the school.
- We were given an opportunity to ask questions.
- I asked a tenuous question about PAN and external intake in years 12 & 13
- The panel asked a couple of probing questions.
- Then over to us.
- We had printed our presentation and asked the chair if the panel and clerk would like copies. They took them.
- We stumbled through a very emotional appeal.
- Questions were asked by all panel members
- Was your daughter successful as chair of the school council?
- What would your daughter like to do when she is older?
- How will your daughter feel about attending Skinners Kent Academy if your appeal is unsuccessful?
- We were asked if we were given every opportunity to make our case
- We were given the opportunity to summarise
- Thanks all round and the clerk on the way out informed us that we would here in writing in about 10-12 days
Hope this information is of help to other,
