one score low and other high

Post by sapna2000 »

We are approaching our appeal date very soon and wanted to know whether both marks for the bucks exam be will discussed or just the highest which was 141(and lowest 110).

When we recieved the results letter it did inform us that the best score is considered.

The reason we did not get a place at BGS was to do with distance, we are approx. 1.2 miles out of the distance criteria.

I have read many threads about appeals to do with not achieving the pass mar but not many to do with late transfer appeals.

The highest score is your Verbal Reasoning Test Score (VRTS) and anything above 121 qualifies for a grammar school place in Bucks.

Unfortunately for you, given the very high VRTS score of 141, all qualifying scores are treated equally and places are allocated according to distance, and some other, criteria.

Good luck with your appeal. You will need to come up with some very specific reasons why your chosen school should offer a place to your child, when it has not been able to do so by following the Local Authority's admission criteria.

Probably neither, as in Buckinghamshire it's unlikely the panel will even be told the scores in this situation. Because it's a transfer appeal they will realise that your child has qualified.

Oversubscription appeals are discussed here:
