Hi,

The PAN for 2011 year 7 intake is 174. Their PAN used to be 168.

In general only the PAN of places can be allocated to a school and any extras will have joined because of successful appeals or maybe with a Statement of Special Educational Needs where the naming of the school was done after allocations. Rarely an admissions authority, either the LA in the case of a Community or Controlled school or the Governing Body of a Foundation, VA School or Academy in conjunction with the LA may decide to allocate over the PAN. This has happened in Lincolnshire when there have been shortages of school places in particular areas.
This may not necessarily affect the PAN for the following year(s) if it appears that it is a "blip" for that particular year and numbers in the area will drop to usual levels. Sometimes an increase in numbers one year heralds a change of PAN - KGGS overallocated by 6 last year, before appeals were heard.

If you want to find out the actual numbers in each year group in the school you could ask the school direct or the LA - the LA will have the numbers returned termly from the schools which may not be totally up to date. The school's will be up to date. If you end up in an appeal all the numbers will automatically be given to you in the school's case for prejudice along with the reason for any numbers over PAN.
