Young-in-year appeal

Post by KentAppeal »

My daughter was born on 29 August and has been the youngest in her class throughout her school career. I am appealing to a Kent Grammar School as she missed the Kent test pass mark by a few marks.

Has anyone any experience on how to raising young-in-year as a mitigating factor? I recognize that the scores are adjusted but I wonder if it still makes sense to mention her young age?

Don't overplay it, but I do think it's worth a brief mention. As above, you'll need to preface any remark with "I recognize that the scores are adjusted but ......"

The argument becomes stronger if there is any evidence of rapid progress in the period leading up to the appeal, because you can then point to the effects of increasing maturity.

Can you find out how many points were awarded for her age? I asked our GS when I called to get my son's individual scores, and 12 points were added to the three scores to create his overall mark. Just thought it might help you to know! He is a late August baby too.
