Appeal help (Trafford)

Post by katerina78 »

Could you tell me , please, is there a professional assistance in appealing procedure . I feel I wouldn't manage on my own in that stress. English is not my first language and that makes the things worst. I don't want to let my child down. He's done his bit , passing the all three exams . Any information will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry to hear of your problem.If your son passed all 3 exams, why was he not allocated a place?

Are you out of area?

If so, are you appealing on the basis of oversubscription?

Once we know this we might be able to offer advice. Which schools were they?

Hi! Yes , he passed Sale , Urmston and Stretford. Missed the Allthy by 10 points. We are out of catchment and we cannot afford moving home because we are on the waiting list for my little one who is with SEN.I have read the information on the forum but I couldn't find what I'm looking for. Thanks for your answers ladies.

I have read the information on the forum but I couldn't find what I'm looking for.
Everything you need to know is in the Q&As. If the issue is to do with oversubscription, see:
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeal ... bed-school" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and especially:
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeal ... -school#c2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
is there a professional assistance in appealing procedure . I feel I wouldn't manage on my own in that stress. English is not my first language and that makes the things worst.
We advise against professional assistance:
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeals/general#a11" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However, if English is the problem, you can ask whoever is arranging the appeals (in advance) for an interpreter to attend the hearing, and one will normally be provided at no cost to you.

If you need help reading our Q&As, is there a friend with a good understanding of English and your own language who could assist you?

You are also entitled to take a friend to the hearing with you.

Hi Katerina

He is obviously a very clever boy! I am surprised you did not get an offer from any school- where do you live? And as someone else has asked are you on any waiting lists and do you know your position on the waiting lists?
Have you been back n touch with any f the schools since offer day to see if places have come free?
If he passed by a good margin of point you will have a better chance. Is he particularly good at/ interested in any of the schools specialisms?

Let us have more info so we can help you if we can?

Thank you TIDDLYMUM ! It's seems he's clever. I didn't help him at all through the preparation last year. For a couple of months he attended a learning centre (I'm not going to write the name of it) just to be familiar with the test papers. His school is not "outstanding" , he doesn't read books , we speak our language at home and I honestly wonder how he's done so well.
Yes he is on the waiting list for Sale and Stretford . I've rang Stretford -40-th in the waiting list., they allocate by distance . I couldn't find out where is he in Sale 's one. He's got lower score there .
About his interests...well , science ,science , he involved me in his experiments at home last year. And maths, he needs just a click to understand what it has to be done.
I haven't even started the form and I know that it has to be send it by 13 of May. Is that right ? I have spoken to his headteacher and he promised to help me if I need any supportive letters showing my son's recent results . What else can I do?

You should ring Trafford education and check that your are on all waiting lists - and your number on the list. I will send you a private message to get more details- I'll help you if I can. You do know its a separate appeal for each school don't you?

I think about making an appeal for Sale only. It's closer , he loved the school on the opening evening and its specialist status it's suitable for my son. I'll ring Trafford education and try to get some more information of them . Thank you TIDDLIMUM !
