My son passed bucks grammar school 11plus exam. He got score 139. We mentioned RGS as our first choice. We are out of county. we plan to relocate nearer to school after getting admission. But, we are not getting offer from RGS. They are not telling any reason for rejection. Is there anyway to get the rank list for the current year 11plus admission in RGS.

Any one can help me, what we need to further.

His score is irrelevant - he has qualified and that is what counts. The allocation looks to have been out as far as 8 miles. How far from the school do you live?

Here is the admission procedure for RGS. As anotherdad said, the score is irrelevant over 121, ther is no ranking. Without wishing to be rude, it might have been an idea to check the admission policy before applying? Your question suggests you are not local otherwise you would know that no school in Bucks allocates on rank.

It will be purely on distance - if you have a look at Sally-Anne's post here with the allocation profiles then you will see RGS is

The Royal Grammar School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (catchment), rule 3 (siblings) and some offered under rule 6 (distance) to 7.882 miles.
they will never produce a rank of scores because it doesn't work like that. Ultimately it comes down to how far away you actually are and whether you are on a waiting list. You can appeal on oversubscription grounds http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeal ... bed-school" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for all for your reply.

Actually bucks council conducted exam through my son's school. Here the head teacher conducted exam on-behalf of bucks council. If they select only through catchment area not for ranking, then why they accept my application for testing. What's the use of accepting application from outside county peoples. It's really waste of time.

Anyway, I will go to appeal. Thanks for your great support.

It is not so much catchment as distance from the school that is the decider and at RGS it seems to be about 8 miles this year.
There are some grammar schools in Bucks who are able to offer to all those who pass and put it on the CAF regardless of distance (this year Sir Henry Floyd & John Hampden) - when you opted to take the exam they cannot have known which school you planned to apply to.

Here are the allocation profiles and the distance / categories etc
Aylesbury Grammar School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (Free school meals), rule 3 (siblings), rule 4 (linked siblings), rule 5 (siblings of former students), rule 7 (catchment) and some allocated under rule 8 (distance) to 16.735 miles.

Aylesbury High School
All applicants offered.

Beaconsfield High School
All applicants offered under rule b (catchment siblings), rule c (catchment), rule d (siblings) and some allocated under rule e (distance) to 7.784 miles.

Burnham Grammar School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (catchment), rule 3 (siblings) and some allocated under rule 5 (distance) to 9.035 miles.

Chesham Grammar School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (catchment), rule 3 (siblings) and some allocated under rule 5 (distance) to 14.263 miles.

Dr Challoner's Grammar School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (catchment siblings), rule 4 (catchment - exceptional medical or social needs} and some allocated under rule 4 (catchment) to a distance of 7.172 miles.

Dr Challoner's High School
All applicants offered under rule 2 {4} (catchment siblings) and some allocated under rule 2 (catchment) to a distance of 5.971 miles.

John Hampden Grammar School
All applicants offered.

The Royal Grammar School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (catchment), rule 3 (siblings) and some offered under rule 6 (distance) to 7.882 miles.

The Royal Latin School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (catchment), rule 3 (siblings), rule 4 (exceptional medical or social needs) and some allocated under rule 5 (distance) to 9.347 miles.

Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School
All applicants offered.

Sir William Borlase's Grammar School
All applicants offered under rule 2 (catchment), rule 3 (siblings) and some allocated under rule 5 (distance) to 6.141 miles.

Wycombe High School
All applicants offered under rule b (catchment), rule c (siblings) and some allocated under rule d (distance) to 13.874 miles.

When you filled in your caf you would have had access to information which showed you which schools were your catchment schools. As your ooc school child sat the exam in school premises, presumably you are near to a bucks county council local authority boundary. RGS is very obviously no where near a boundary so this couldn't have been your catchment school. You would also have had access to a distance calculator and previous years allocation profiles. The choices you made are not the fault of the bucks county council school transfer procedure.

It would have been illegal not to allow you to sit the test.

However you needed to research the schools you were interested in for their admission rules.

Are there other schools you would be interested in for your son? There are still spare places in some schools.

Just out of interest, what is the legal standing of authorities saying that they will allow residents from outside a defined area to take "their" 11+, but only if all the places haven't been taken by candidates from within that area first?

Anyone can take any 11 plus and apply to any school but the admissions procedures apply.
