Essex appeals

There is alot on here about appeals but not in Essex.
My DS is currently 37th on the waiting list (outside catchment), with a score that in past years would have seen him offered a place. His overall score was lower than expected because his VR was so low (but his maths was very high and his english high). The VR, as others have also said, was totally unexpected. However we are of the opinion it is because he had never done 3 papers together and was tired from the maths and english. His SATs are a level 6 (high level 6) for Maths and a 5A for English, though to be entered for level 6. Do you think we have a chance of appealing on the grounds of his academic ability? The only extenuating circumstance we have is that he hadn't done all the papers together before - which I don't think will count!!

Appeals are basically the same everywhere as regards what you have to do.

I think all you have to know specifically with regard to Essex is that appeals for superselectives are hard to win!
