Marling Over-subscription Appeal

Hello - another newbie here. My son got 221 for Marling but was not close enough geographically to be reconsidered against other candidates. We would want to appeal but are rather phased by what our grounds should be or what supporting paperwork to send. Is it enough that he has passed or do we still need to submit evidence of his academic records? Any help gratefully accepted.
