Thanks Southbucks3 , I almost cried , regardless of the end result, it was just lovely to hear his professional opinion that's going to stay with me forever !! Her key stage 1 were 3's. Of the four that passed they were all 1/1's I could see in his list, is that a help or hindrance ? Dolly x

Hopefully a help, but not if the ht gave out fifteen 1:1 and only four passed if you see what I mean.
Key stage one results are perfect.

Thanks sbb3 , I see what you mean, I don't know how many were 1/1. Didn't think to ask him.

Do you have any advice for filling out step 4 on the review form
Tell us what grounds you have for asking for a review ? I think I might pop back and speak to the HT about this part.

Thanks for you support and thank you hyacinth too ****

Hi Dollydripmat, I kept this part very brief as I felt my child like yours had pretty much done it for me. I had a few numbered points, the first of which made reference to the STTS mark achieved correct to 2 decimal places, making the point that DS would have one of the very highest non-qualifying scores (but refraining from saying 'should have been rounded up in any sane system'. I was tempted!)

I highlighted predicted, actual and progression through SATs levels which were all in the Head's and past school reports but I just wanted to have them up front for ease of reference.

I took one or two quotations on attitude to work from Head and teacher just in case they might be missed in the reports.

I felt I had to deal with slightly under par early years performance because DS had glue ear which effected him quite badly up til the age of 7, so I had a very brief word about that.

Despite the fact that they probably weren't interested I did have one sentence in there about DS as a rounded individual - sport and drama - just to hint at the fact that he didn't live in a cupboard with 11+ tutor books for three years.

Must admit I am amazed they are still rounding down this year- and informing us of unrounded scores too. Should have kicked up more a fuss last year.... :(

Good luck!

Hi dolly,

I went straight to appeal as ds was in the middle of an excruciatingly long process of hit and miss testing to find out what was wrong with his eyes, so we didn't have the reports from the specialist at review stage only normal optometrists.....so wish we had as the appeal process was very drawn out and rather unpleasant.

I think the thing to remember is to link your statement to your evidence, particularly any additional evidence in hard copy, with reference to each key piece. Keep focusing their minds on the stats that clearly prove your child is grammar material.

Thanks sbb3, I've read your post for son no2 ( I'm all over the place completely slipped my mind that you went for an appeal rather than review) and felt it was a very tough drawn out process , I really felt for you. You spend Y5 prepping for the 11+ , then the following year trying to convince the appeals process of your child's suitability!! 2 yrs of work. Hence why I'm so pleased this time round you have been successful , I couldn't begin to imagine how to cope if it hadn't been the outcome you had got!!

That's really good advice about linking points and evidence etc, thank you I will spend some time on it today. Thanks again dolly x

Review paperwork all done! HT posting them. Phew! I can breathe!!! What a week , it's been a rollercoaster! Feeling very relieved , it's out of my hands, coming round to a what will be will be, I'm not overly optimistic even with the 1:1, and current and predicted levels (6 and 5A's) I feel better to deal with it this way, then the disappointment will be easier this time to bear. Thanks to everyone that's been really helpful and supportive with your kind posts and good luck to my fellow forumites who are appealing/reviewing too. And well done to all the children of posters on here that passed, your parents have worked hard for you it's been a long year for everyone and they greatly deserve too, that lovely sigh of relief !! Dolly :) x
