First test mark higher than second - significant?

Post by MelW »

Just received our hearing papers and it shows my son got his higher score on the 1st paper. I am surprised by this as I thought generally higher scores are on the later paper due to familiarity, relief of getting one test , having a week's break etc.

My husband is convinced he got a lower score on the second paper because he was made to take them on two consecutive days and he had no recovery time unlike (the majority) of state pupils who have a week. Is this worth a mention in the appeal or will they ask us?

Dear Mel

There's no consistency in which paper gets the higher mark.

I don't think your husband's argument will carry much weight, but you can try. :D

Occasionally there are cases (ooc) where both papers are taken on the same day, also contrary to the rules. Panels are a bit more sympathetic in this situation!
