Essex - access arrangements

Hi,

Looking for advice - DC is sitting the 11+ this session and has a disability that causes pain & slowness in writing. Essex do not allow extra time (unless I completely misread the policy in which case please let me know!) We have some access arrangements allowed, but feel that they are being disadvantaged by lack of extra time. We have an OT report stating that a laptop & extra time will be required in secondary school.

Does anyone have experience of challenging in Essex on a disability basis? Hopefully won't need it but would like to be prepared?

Edit for clarity for other users - I did misunderstand the policy and time allowances are given. Now trying to rectify the situation.

I've read everything I can find on this fabulous site & it's very unclear how the policy is applied (& it's poorly written in my opinion anyway)

I've contacted the host school directly for help & will take it further if I need to!


If I get any clarity I'll post for others benefit. Likewise if we end up appealing.
