Unsuccessful Appeal...A niggle

Hello,
We had a recent over-subscription appeal for our dd which was sadly unsuccessful and I am finding one thing in the decision letter is niggling !! could anyone shed any light?
On the decision letter the panel noted (along with other things)
- Your daughter's ranking compared to the other applicants.
I was under the impression that the appeal panel must not be told anything about where a child is on the waiting list or their rank.
Any thoughts?

Welcome to Appeals! :)

Only the Waiting List position is prohibited by the Code.

I think the AA is obliged to reveal score and rank to the appeal panel in order to demonstrate that it has correctly applied the admission arrangements. Even if it provides a clue to W/L position, it's not a statement of what the Waiting List position is.

During our appeal hearing, the HT revealed how many boys had scored higher than my son, along with his final score and raw scores.
