Bucks selection review advive

Post by Deb70 »

Hi, selection review advice please.....DS scored 118.25. was expected to pass. Two siblings already in GS, one in yr 8 so we know exactly what's involved and wouldn't send him if we thought he would struggle. School gave good recommendation, a 2 for suitability (very able, recommended without reservation) and 1 for attitude to learning. End of year 2 scores 2A reading & writing, 3C maths. GDS in every box since then and predicted highest levels for SATs. Took yr 6 SATs paper at end of year 5, scored 108/110 maths, 64/70 SpaG, 28/40 reading. Nice supporting statement from HT. Slightly worried about reading score in SATs in July. Have some extenuating circumstances, dad lost job over summer, family holiday cancelled, money worries. What are his chances of a successful SR?

He remembers the reading paper and didn't finish. Missed out a lot of section 3 hence lower score than maths and SpaG.

PK- I asked that because the HT recommendation won't carry as much weight as it was completed after the test. I would not write that about the reading because that is part of the test situation.

Have you seen Etienne's thread about evidence? Are you near enough to get a place should the review be successful?

The breakdown of scores would help me comment - the Year 3 assessments seem over optimistic given KS1 levels.
