What would be the grounds for your appeal?

Places are allocated on the basic of ranked total score.

Boys on exactly the same total score are ranked by total distance from the school.

Those who applied and had QE as their highest ranked school that offered them a place were offered a place.

Others that are outside the top 192 offered a place are ranked according to total score and distance and are on the waiting list if QE was their highest ranked school that did not offer them a place.

It is only really worth appealing if you feel you have grounds why your ds should have been one of the 192 offered a place on March 1st. DG

Yes that is the way in which places are allocated at QE, but parents have the right to appeal there as they have the right to appeal anywhere. They may feel that there are very good reasons why their DS would normally have performed better (and hence been in the top 192) , they have reasons for this and, most importantly, evidence of their academic ability.

Herman is absolutely correct - appeal panels are not limited to a consideration of the admission arrangements. They are free to give whatever weight they wish to any arguments parents choose to put forward.
