Hi all,

We are planning on appealing for DD on a STTS of 118 for a bucks grammar school. Would appreciate your advice and guidance. The appeals are held direct with the school.

Grammar school recommendation from Head was 1:1 and predicted performance GDS.

The appeal outcome says test scores were inline with academic profile and she did not qualify in two elements of the STTS. verbal 115, Maths 115, Non verbal 129.

The Panel noted we only included evidence for years 5&6. DD started this school in year 5 , the school said at the time we didn't need to include past evidence from her previous school, which i am now kicking myself that I didn't include it. I now have it ready to include for the appeal. Below are her CAT scores from school:

Year 5
Maths score of 123
English score of 133
Reading score of 125
Spelling 126
verbal reasoning 126
Non verbal 122

Basically this was DD having a bad day. She knew as soon as came home that she had not done well and said her mind went blank.

Would appreciate your view/ advice and any steer would be really helpful.

Many thanks

A good place to start would be here.

And then specifically for Bucks.

They should get you started.

So sorry for your DD. I know it is very frustrating to be so close: our DS got 119.75, rounded to 119.
His verbal and Maths were good (124) but he messed up with the NVR (he was not tutored).
He got a 1:1 from the HT and, lucky him (and us), his selection review was successful. I think that his Key Stage 2 GL assessment results, which were all good (GDS), helped a lot.
If you plan to appeal, I would recommend you to provide the Key Stage 2 GL assessment results, if you have them.
