Missed section of test

Hello,

I’m hoping for advice regarding thurs bucks 11 plus. My son didn’t hear the instruction to turn a page and start a new section and did not realise until an invigilator gave him a “strange look” by which point time was nearly up and he missed most of it.

Should I query with this school if this was noticed and logged now or wait until results day?

Many thanks

I would let the head of your primary school know and the LEA of whichever area you are in - ask them to add it to your son's record. That way, if you do have to go to appeal (where you will have to present lots of academic evidence), you can give a nod to this episode as an extenuating circumstance that may have been the difference between him getting a place or not. It may have affected him in the section after, as he realised what he had done but the important thing for any appeal is academic evidence and lots of it!

Thank you so much. I’ll send an email to the school. I’m in Bucks so they’re probably getting tons of emails. I’m not sure who I should contact at the Local Authority. I’ll call them on Monday and see if they can help.
