After some advice

Post by Brackenboo »

Just wanted some advice in case we need to appeal. We're in Gloucestershire and have a qualifying score for our chosen school (DD already there).

DS ranked 792 and they went to 796 and approx 800 over the last couple of National allocation days, but want to be prepared as he is in the cusp.

At his primary he has generally always been at Greater depth for Maths and Reading but expected at writing. He is in top groups, first free reader in class etc.

As he has a qualifying score would it matter so much that he is at expected level for writing as we would be appealing oversubscription? Although we did expect him to do as well as his sister on the day.

He is an anxious child and has been receiving pastoral care to support this. We have no real extenuating circumstances and just wondered if it would be worth planning for an appeal or not based on the expected sats levels?
Thanks

Hi

Only your particular panel can really answer that, but if you have academic evidence that he could and should have performed even better, and if there are some extenuating circumstances (anxiety/pastoral care), you would have nothing to lose by adding these points to your case against oversubscription.

Otherwise, just focus on the reasons for wanting a place.
