Dear Etiene,

Reading through all the posts regarding 11 plus appeals and I finally plucked up the courage to reach out to you for some advice.

Our daughter sat 11 plus exam for a school within our local catchment area. She made it through to the second round and we were elated for her. We only started working towards a consistent programme of study in November of this year. She is a very bright student both academically and creatively and is described by teachers in school as a
model pupil.

In short, our ranking results came last week and our daughter ranked 130. The lowest ranking they offered places to over the last 2 years was 123,

The entire 11 plus experience is all to new to us as a family.

We suffered a family bereavement and a sudden health issue in the days leading up
to the 2nd round of exams. These mitigating circumstances we believe directly impacted her overall performance and in turn results.

I would kindly ask for your advice regarding your own experience with appeals.

Kindest

Hi Annie10 and welcome to the forum

I have split your post from the original thread into its own thread so it doesn't get lost!

It sounds like you have had a very difficult time and very difficult for your daughter to be doing the exams with all that was going on. Re appeals - you can actually only appeal when you are rejected by the school you want - so the process is that you must put the school on the CAF and then in March if you are not offered a place they will give you details of the appeals process and how to proceed - we have lots of info here https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeals and I would suggest that you start collecting evidence before then so that you are ready.

Thank you so much for your response and for splitting my post into its own thread. :)
Yes - We can now fill in the CAF form and wait for March with regard to appeals.

I will begin the process of collating all the relevant information and evidence and slowly build up a case in readiness for March.

I am in the midst of reading different information from this site which is so comprehensive - its a life line!
To have individuals share their experiences of appeal process has been enlightening.

I was reaching out to Etiene when I read her advice from a panel perspective. Hoping to shed a bit of light on our circumstance.

Thank you so much for your quick response

x

Welcome to the forum! :)

For the present I would just highlight three things:

1. Academic evidence
https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appea ... cation#b11

2. Reasons for wanting/needing a place
https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appea ... -school#c2

3. Success rate of appeals
https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeals/general#a39
