A copy of my appeal letter for Christopher in 2007

Post by cindy »

I remember only too well, how hard I found it to put together my appeal
for Christopher in 2007. Frankly I did not know where to start.

Everyones case will be different, but I hope this helps. Also the best info can be found on the home page of this website, under Appeals.

Secondary School Appeal For Grammar School 2007

Name of Pupil......... PupilID..............................

Date of Birth.................... Daytime Telephone number................

Dear Member of the Panel,
We would be greatful if you would consider Christophers appeal on the following grounds:

ACADEMIC EVIDENCE
Attained 124, 128 and 114(Maths) in the 11+

Very strongly supported by the Head Teacher and his Form Teacher-
Strongly predicted to pass.

Level 3 in Key Satge 1. (Represents achievment above the nationally
expected standard)

Top group for Maths English and Science

Selected as Head Boy.

Nominated by Headteacher to serve as a pupil councillor for Sevenoaks
Talented and Gifted (S.T.A.G) Network.

Awarded two merits and a distinction by the English Speaking Board.

Consistent grade 2 (working at or above National Curriculum
expectations) in years 2 and 3 and in year 4 attained a B1 in Maths
(working at a level well in advance of National Curriculum expectations.

National End Year SAT's and Teacher Assesment Year 5 7x5

Exemplary report of achievment - please see attatched copy of last
report.

Predicted year 6 Sat's results - straight 5's

I am able to provide supporting evidence for the above. We hope you would be prepared to take the view that these circumstances are sufficient to explain the shortfall of one mark.

End.

I decided not to put any extenuating circumstances as I felt this would
detract, in part, from his achievments. Christopher was however, a short while later diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.
I am glad, of course, that we won on appeal. Christopher is having a great
time, and is not the cleverest, but is about midway now, which is great as
he has something to aim for. He hopes to be a Scientist.

god bless you all, and good luck.

A sincere thank you to all of the contributors who helped towards Christophers dream.
