computer marked papers? - appeal

I was informed today that for the Kent tests where they are marked by a computer you can ask for them to be hand marked and this can often lead to an extra 1 or 2 marks - so if your dc was just off the mark it might be worth investigating (particularly if your primary school hasn't been helpful - its amazing the different attitudes headteachers have; some so supportive whilst others not prepared to appeal or advise any).

I've sat on appeals for 4 years now, and whilst quite a few papers have been hand marked, only one (last year) was found to be incorrect and, yes, the couple of points that were added took the child high enough up the list & they were given a place (and hence the appeal withdrawn).

However, it is also entirely possible that the computer marking could falsely allocate a mark where one was not due (say a child rubbed out a correct answer, but the computer misread it)....
