Hi everyone,

Worried mum here - whose dd scored 117 and 115 and whose HT ranked dd as 'unsuitable' for grammar.

Results of ed psych report came through today. Can anyone help me understand whether this is going to be of use for our appeal.

Overall tone - positive and upbeat
VC (Verbal Comprehension) index - 45th centile - average - dd has some trouble communicating abstract ideas suggesting a possible language processing difficulty.
PR1 (Perceptual Reasoning) index - 39th centile - average - described as very accurate but slow 'on occasion'
PS1 (Processing Speed Index) - 50th centile - average - ed psych noted dd is methodical and prefers accuracy over speed
WMI (working memory) - v. poor at 6th centile - considerably deficient. However report says WM1, once recognised, can be improved considerably by adopting certain strategies and is by no means 'fixed' for eternity. Word reading 61st centile, 12 yrs 8mth reading age, Comprehension 9 yrs (because of WMI problem), Spelling 11 years 0mths(actual age). mathematical development 75th centile equivalent age 13yrs 8 mths, mathematical reasoning 75th centile, equiv. age 13 rs 0Mths.
Etienne - your experience in this area is so valuable. Appeal is on Tuesday - can I PM you?
