The Tutors Maths vol 2, question 18

Post by wiltsman »

This question is poorly worded; it concerns a girl eating some chocolates from a box. The final part of the question says:

"If there were 24 chocolates left for Adam, choose the number of chocolates that Sarah had from the options provided."

This is ambiguous, and could mean "that Sarah had eaten" or "that Sarah had originally".

Both I and my daughter decided that it meant the latter, and consequently chose the "wrong" answer.

I would suggest that this question be reworded to make it clear that it is referring to the number of chocolates that Sarah had eaten.
