Hi Everyone
Please help me in understanding this school admission jargon.
My son has scored 220 in 11+ exam and we are in southern priority circle living in CV5.
We plan to give first priority to AGS followed by LS and then kenilworth school. Is it something which looks good choice although we are still undecided with other state schools.
Will living in southern priority circle effect our chances to get into LS if he does not make a cut for AGS.

No definitive answer on that. Make sure you tick box to be put on waiting list if not offered place to AGS and depends on number of boys AQM or above in eastern circle on first round. If not enough then outside get poss offers on first round? Think that is right!

Thanks for your reply, it is truely very uncertain and we will have to wait till like march to have any clarity.
It is just so stressful as cant think about relocating or other things like transport for sure.
Wonder if anyone from Coventry has similar dilemma ?

I would be worried about this. I think you need to study the process for allocating grammar and other schools so you understand the process and the risks and options for your son. Members of this forum can explain jargon if you are unfamiliar with some of the terminology. If you don't understand the process you.may.nake the wrong decision.

Hopefully the AQS for AGS for last year is published here. That will give you an indication of whether 220 will be good enough this year. However without the southern ranking there is a lot of confusion so note that this will be an indication and not certainty.

Living in the southern sector will make entry to LSS more difficult but.not impossible. No one knows the AQS this year but I would say you have a fighting chance with that score but not certainly.

Check catchment for Kenilworth school. Are you in catchment? If not what was the furthest distance from school they offered last year and are you within that distance? That gives you an.indication of a chance not certainty.

Make sure you add a school to your form that you will be into otherwise you will be allocated a school by the LEA.

AQS for Alcester Grammar was 213 in 2017 and 217 in 2016, so in the last two years, your score was above the AQS. The 2016 score of 217 was more normal for AGS, so I would expect it to be more like that than the 213 of last year.

If you put AGS first and are in the Southern Priority area then, going on historical figures, you have a chance, although it may be from the waiting list, if the AQS rises. As Fatnorville has explained, you need to spend time looking at the information on WCC website about catchment areas for LSS and Kenilworth - and possibly talking to them if you are not clear.

I can hopefully make the right and the best decision now.
Although I am bit concerned now that we might not be able to make a cut for both school and might have to look for local school which aren't that great in my catchment area

CV5 is a big area, but if you have looked up your address in the http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/mapgrammarschools" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and are confident that you fall within the southern priority area then your DS probably stands a good chance of getting into AGS as mentioned by KCG. You never know across multiple threads on here people have said that LSS dont get enough byoys from within the priority area so there are opportunities for OOC also. If you are on the southern end of the CV5 postcode isnt Finham Park an option for you?

In CAF list that we fill online ...is there an option to indicate consider for WL? I didn't find any.

No, agnihimanshu there is no place on the online CAF to tick to be put on the waiting list. You cannot be put on any wait list until you have been rejected by a school first - this may (or may not) happen on National Allocations Day in March. If you are rejected by a school listed above the school you are offered, you will automatically be put on the waiting list (in Warwickshire) for those higher schools, until December of the year of entry.

Do not worry about wait lists until after National Allocation Day, at which point you can turn your focus to WCC who maintain the lists for the schools - you can then contact them frequently to see if you have moved up - or down - the waiting list!

I think finham park 2 is definitely going as an option for us.
We are 1.2miles off the school in straight line, does anyone has any historical data as to how furthest the place has been allocated
