Ashlawn Expansion to a satellite site

Ashlawn School is in discussion with the DfE about expanding to meet the increased demand for high quality secondary school places as Rugby continues to grow
Re: Ashlawn Expansion to a satellite site
Hi, Rugbylady13.
I have a ds in year 13, a dd in year 12.
They insist the new year 7 classes are in the new building being built on the existing site. Ashlawn School seem to always be building!
I have a ds in year 5, we don't live in catchment, he is unlikely to get into the grammar stream, but I really want him to go there.
I've heard rumours they're planning to build on another site. I'm going to attend that meeting, thank you for posting this as I didn't see it in a newsletter.

Re: Ashlawn Expansion to a satellite site
The extension that is currently under construction is the new 6th form/teaching school. I'm assuming that'll free up some classrooms in the rest of the school for other year groups. Definitely worth spreading the word about the meeting on 1st March as will be interesting to find out where they plan to have the satellite site and what effect this will on new & current students.
Re: Ashlawn Expansion to a satellite site
Hi all,
I can confirm that the new site will not be a part of the current existing site, it will be a completely new site.

Re: Ashlawn Expansion to a satellite site
I think the proposed site will either be on Ashlawn Road near Sainsburys, or where the masts are, at Crick.
I hope the site is on Ashlawn Road as ds2 should get in. He won't have a chance near Crick but I suppose that will free up places at the current school.
I'm still not clear how it will work, new teachers? The same teachers on the new site?
And sorting this all out before September 2017 without planning permission yet?
I'm looking forward to the meeting.

Hi Ginx,
The new site is said to be on Ashlawn Road near the Water Tower

Is that where the developers recently had their planning application turned down for housing?ryan123 wrote:Hi Ginx,

Having worked in a split-site school I would not recommend it!
Re: Ashlawn Expansion to a satellite site
I've just been in to school on another matter and during discussion been told the proposed site is at Crick. Feeling intrigued.
I can't imagine a split-site school.
Edited to add G55 is right; planning was refused on 27 January 2016 for the housing development between the Water Tower, the Leys and Sainsbury's.

Crick is in Northamptonshire, wouldn't it be a bit complicated to have two different sites in two different counties? Or because it is now an academy does that not really matter?
