Re: Testing dates
Birmingham test is still 12th September. According to updated statement on their website.
How can they be different dates?
I have emailed warwickshire about this and would suggest everybody does the same.
Postponing the test is a bad idea.
Why is it safe for birmingham to sit but not warwickshire.
Surely they should be discussing this with each other?

Re: Testing dates
I have sent an email to the councillors name that was on the email
Cllrhayfield@warwickshire.gov.uk
Some children may be sitting the exam through Birmingham and sharing with Warwickshire.
Bham exam could be sat but warks one may not happen, so theoretically warks kids won't get places and bham ones could!
Councillor Hayfield is a Tory Councillor. Their track record at the moment for making decisions regarding education is farcical. You'd think they'd learnt their lesson by now.

Re: Testing dates
The Department of Education have advised that secondary schools not have 2021 entrance exams until November 2020. So perhaps Birmingham Council haven’t yet updated their website?

Re: Testing dates
I guess Birmingham don’t ‘have’ to move their exam dates, but they will have been given the following document by the DfE. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... FINAL1.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Testing dates
The guidance is non-statutory so some schools may feel it is better to proceed as planned.

Re: Testing dates
Doesn’t make sense when b’ham and Warks use the same paper
Re: Testing dates
November wouldn't work for Birmingham KE schools because they have to set the catchment priority score prior to CAF and parents won't apply to a KE grammar unless they know their child has reached that level. Equally the Foundation wouldn't know what mark to set.
Re: Testing dates
But surely, that applies to any area setting a minimum, and any parent applying for a fully selective school and is covered byKenR wrote:November wouldn't work for Birmingham KE schools because they have to set the catchment priority score prior to CAF and parents won't apply to a KE grammar unless they know their child has reached that level. 3. Our advice to the sector, therefore, is that it is reasonable, for this year only, totest in late October or, if the local co-ordinated scheme allows for this, in November even if this means that test results are not known before the closing date for applications (31
October). This will enable as many children as possible to get back into the routine ofeducation before being tested and therefore minimise the disadvantage caused by the lengthy period many children have had to spend away from school. This disadvantage is likely to be especially acute for children eligible for the pupil premium, and for children who face particular barriers to their education.

in the document linked to by WarksMum ?
The same document advises LAs both to increase the number of preferences which can be expressed by parents, where necessary, and to advise parents to make a final preference a non-selective 'banker' (not the actual expression used), which is what most LAs do anyway in their guidance for parents.
Whether or not any given parent actually reads the guidance their LA gives them, of course, being another matter entirely .

The qualifying and priority scores are published before the test so won’t make a difference for the Foundation.KenR wrote:November wouldn't work for Birmingham KE schools because they have to set the catchment priority score prior to CAF and parents won't apply to a KE grammar unless they know their child has reached that level.
