Anyone's child on Ritalin or similar
We are considering Ritalin for my DC, however have read negative as well as positives. Can anyone give any advice or their child experiences whilst in this. We are considering a very low dosage first and increasing it gradually.
not my own child, but I taught two brothers who had ADHD and the difference when they took Ritalin was amazing.
The 8 year old came in to school in a new term after starting ritalin in the holidays and drew a picture of himself with huge eyes because he "could now look and listen and start to learn". He was like a different child and could concentrate much better. The children still need to have a good routine and behaviour management programme and there needs to be good liaison and feedback between medical and school staff, but used correctly , for the right children, it can be very effective.
