 Would you rather spend it on name labels or something nicer?

I just folded over the first name bit and had the surname,

i ended up following my mother in law's example and just writing the surname on sports equipment books etc. It meant we could all use it and there was no embarassment with having your big sister's name on everything

In our family the last letter of DD1's first name is the first letter of DD3's. And the last letter of DD2's is the first letter of DD1's. And I always order them in capital letters throughout. This means that, in the disorganized jumble of my sewing box, if all else fails I can usually find one that works as initial plus surname after a bit of careful folding!

(DS often has to make do with Yoyo's solution, though.  )
