I don't like the friend thing one bit. I will add you all if you add me - but I don't see the point. Imagine when it comes to Christmas cards.

Re email notification - used to get one if a topic I had posted on was added to. Quite liked that as I could see what effect, if any, my comments had had (usually people disagreeing with me). But it would only send one message until you looked on the forum again. Now it is sending me a message with all these posts. My poor little computer.

The friend thing, I suspect, is when you log in if you check your Profile it will tell you who, of your friends, is online/offline. Although why you can't just look at the bottom of the main board, I don't know. Perhaps there's some other mysterious use which we know nothing about yet. Perhaps it's a new dastardly plan by the new government, instead of the DNA database they're collecting information this way
